Founding

The association was established to provide a sense of community and support for Italian-American employees, many of whom faced cultural and professional challenges in their roles within the NYCD.

Mission

The NYCD Columbia association promotes Italian-American heritage while advocating for the interests and well being of it's members. It aims to enhance the professional lives of it's members by offering scholarships, charitable donations, and networking opportunities.

Community Engagement

Over the years, the association has become known for it's charitable initiatives, such as toy drives, food donations, and partnerships with local organizations. It emphasizes giving back to the broader New York City community.

Cultural Preservation

The association celebrates Italian-American culture through events, fundraisers, and ceremonies, ensuring that members stay connected to their roots while honoring the contributions of Italian-Americans to New York's history and public service.

Collaboration

The association works closely with other organizations, including COBA and city agencies, to strengthen it's impact both within the department and the wider community.

Through it's enduring commitment to service, culture, and community, the NYCD Columbia Assocation has become a respected and integral part of the New York City Department of Correction.
